The 4.3-inch model is the stronger fit when you value depth and temperature sensing plus a higher listed screen brightness. The 4.5-inch model is the more relevant option when photo/video recording and an ice-fishing focus are priorities. Here is how to compare them without choosing on screen size alone.

Brightness and resolution solve different problems

If you fish in direct daylight, monitor readability deserves attention. The 4.3-inch model has the higher listed brightness and an integrated sunshade. The 4.5-inch model has the higher screen resolution. A larger pixel count and a higher brightness figure do not describe the same benefit.

Neither brightness nor resolution removes the effect of dirty water. Before focusing on fine image detail, consider whether you can position the lens close enough to see your subject clearly. Do you want extra readings or a recording of the trip?

Recording serves a different purpose. The 4.5-inch model lets you save observations for later review. If a feature is not specified, ask before buying. The absence of a recording claim on the 4.3-inch page is not evidence that it has the same recording system as the 4.5-inch model. Likewise, do not assume the 4.5-inch unit includes depth and temperature sensing.

Choose cable reach for your actual fishing spot

A longer cable can help you reach deeper positions, but it also means more cable to deploy, retrieve and store. Plan for the depth where you expect to place the camera, the distance from the monitor to the water and the movement of your platform. A cable angled by current does not reach the same vertical depth as its full length.

The product descriptions mention additional cable lengths. Confirm the exact package before ordering; a length mentioned in the description is not necessarily a selectable option at checkout. Do not treat cable reach as a promise of viewing distance, and do not use the camera cable to pull a snag free.

The listed battery capacities also deserve context. The larger capacity on the 4.5-inch system does not promise twice the fishing time: the published runtime figures are approximately 12 hours and 10 hours. Actual duration can change with temperature, screen settings, recording and battery condition. Leave a margin instead of planning to use every advertised hour.

Which camera fits your routine?

  • For daylight observation with extra readings: consider the 4.3-inch underwater camera, especially when depth and temperature matter to your notes.
  • For recording and ice-fishing sessions: consider the 4.5-inch AHD camera. Follow its operating and charging instructions for the conditions you expect.
